Digital grants for small businesses in Ireland

Digital supports come from two places. The LEO route is a step-by-step path from a free review to a voucher. The Enterprise Ireland route is a set of separate schemes. This page lines them up so you can pick one route.

The LEO route: Digital for Business, then Grow Digital

  • Digital for Business reviews your digital systems and guides new or better tools. The page gives no amount.
  • To use the Grow Digital Voucher you must have completed a Digital for Business project within the previous two years.
  • The voucher pays 50% of eligible costs, between €500 and €5,000 per application, and you can be approved for a maximum of two projects up to €5,000 in total.
  • Both are open to small enterprises with 1 to 50 paid employees that have traded for at least 6 months and are not Enterprise Ireland or IDA clients.

The Enterprise Ireland route

  • Access Advice: Digital Discovery pays up to 80% of an expert's cost, to a maximum of €5,000, to put digital foundations in place or take a first step in artificial intelligence.
  • Digital Marketing Capability has a maximum award of €35,000 for engaging a digital marketing agency.
  • Digital Process Innovation is about production and delivery methods, not online selling. Its scheme page says up to 50% funding, while the listing page says up to €150,000. Ask Enterprise Ireland which applies.

Common traps

  • Custom or bespoke software is excluded from the Grow Digital Voucher.
  • Spending before you apply is not eligible.
  • An Enterprise Ireland client cannot use the LEO supports on the pages we read, so choose a route first.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Digital for Business and the Grow Digital Voucher?

Digital for Business is the review and guidance stage. The Grow Digital Voucher is the funding that follows it, at 50% of eligible costs up to €5,000, and it requires a Digital for Business project completed in the previous two years.

Does the Grow Digital Voucher cover AI tools?

The page we read lists business software that is new to the business. It does not single out AI tools. Enterprise Ireland's Digital Discovery scheme mentions taking a first step in artificial intelligence.
